Yom HaTzedek

What's in your box? We open our boxes on Yom HaTzedek to reflect on our commitments to social change, how we've lived into them, and how we hope to act in the year ahead.

Yom HaTzedek Virtual Celebration

Sunday, May 15th, 7:00pm Eastern

Celebrate Yom HaTzedek (Day of Justice), a new Jewish holiday for reflecting and recommitting to the work of pursuing justice. Join Jewish justice-seekers across the world in song, ritual, reflection, and celebration as we hear from those looking back on their last year as agents of social change. Then we’ll collectively look forward to what the next year has in store for us as we inaugurate our new Tzedek Boxes.

Open to people of all ages; no previous Tzedek Box experience necessary!

2022 Tzedek Box Award: Jewish Youth Climate Movement

Join us in honoring the Jewish Youth Climate Movement! We are thrilled to recognize the work and accomplishments of this incredible organization. Members of JYCM will offer a keynote address at our celebration to lift up the pursuit of service and advocacy.

"The Jewish Youth Climate Movement, founded in 2019, is a Gen Z-led movement dedicated to combating climate change and environmental injustice from a Jewish lens. Our goal is to make taking collective action towards climate justice a central, defining feature of what it means to be Jewish over the next decade, empowering the next generation of Jewish youth to be leaders in our fight to build a sustainable and equitable world for all. JYCM is supported by Hazon, the largest faith-based environmental organization in the U.S."

Musical Guest: Ze'evi Tovlev

Ze'evi Tovlev (they/them or ze/zem/zer) is a fourth-year student at HUC-JIR working toward a masters in Jewish education and cantorial ordination. With roots in song leading and music education, Ze'evi believes in the power of communal music and prayer to create social change. As one of the first trans cantorial students at HUC-JIR, ze works toward expanding the vision of our collective future to encompass those who have been routinely marginalized in Jewish life. Ze will be co-leading services as a Ba’al Tefillah. Ze'evi currently lives in LA with zer spouse Ariel and their two cats.
